National HIV Testing Week

In November 2013, the Urban Coalition for HIV/AIDS Prevention Services established National HIV Testing Week US to highlight the important role of HIV testing in meeting local plans to end the HIV epidemic. The first National HIV Testing Week US (6/21 – 6/27/14) promoted HIV testing efforts taking place across the US and highlighted the broad set of local and national stakeholders (including people living with HIV, scientists, heath providers, party planners and religious and political leaders) engaged in this work.

Today NHTWUS combines events across the nation to demonstrate the positive benefits to health and well-being that an HIV test facilitates, encouraging individuals to become aware of their HIV status and to encourage those that are HIV-positive and are not in care to start a discussion about treatment options with medical professionals.
