 This National HIV Testing Day (NHTD), the Louisiana De­partment of Health, Office of Public Health, STD/HIV Program (SHP) will be introducing, Start It! Louisiana, a statewide, non-stigmatizing campaign that will be implemented from June 24 through June 27, 2019 that encourages conversations about optimal holistic health. The Start It! Louisiana campaign seeks to encourage meaningful conversations and support individual decisions about one’s health. The campaign’s slogan is, “It doesn’t matter how, it matters that you do,” whether it is getting tested for HIV, getting into care, exercising, eating healthier, starting pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), using condoms, or visiting the www.louisianahealthhub.org website as a resource for information.

Everyone may be at a different stage in their health care journey. Start It! Louisiana strives to motivate and encourage Louisiana citizens to Start It!!!

Southwest Center United & Equal National HIV Testing Week

We’ll be out in the community providing free HIV and STI tests, distributing safer sex supplies, and smashing stigma at every turn. The theme of our week-long event series is UNITED & EQUAL! We will be highlighting our “HIV Equal” approach to HIV prevention and testing. No matter your status, we all have roles to play in reducing the stigma and spread of HIV through PrEP, U=U, and building a strong, united community. Now’s your chance to join us—we can’t wait to see you there! Also, be sure to stop by our big Wrap-Up event at Stacy’s @ Melrose to finish off the week!

The GMHC Crew would like to invite you to join us for our Happy Hour and Trivia Night hosted with our community partner, “The Green Lantern.” This event is open to all who can come! Be sure to bring a friend, coworker or business partner as this will be an opportunity to network with other Gay/Bisexual men of color in the DMV. There will also be free $10 incentivized testing provided onsite. You can receive up to $40 in incentives, if you refer 3 or more friends for testing.

A youth and young adults targeted audience that will include plenaries to include HIV, opioid use/overdose prevention, and STIs. The wrap up will be a panel discussion on PrEP/PEP. The event will provide dinner, a swag bag, resources and educational materials. Testing made available to all participants w/a $10 gift card to Subway/McDonald/Starbucks as an incentive for being tested. . Collaboration w/a local recovery ctr and guest speaker Jacq Jones, Owner of Sugar the Shop to discuss sexual identity, awareness and acceptance, safer sex and best sex practices along w/importance of being tested and knowing your status.

Total Health Care will be having its National HIV Testing Day/Block Party 2019 at the 2400 Kirk Avenue MD 21218 on June 27,2019 from 1pm-5pm. We are reaching out to the immediate communities in which we serve to make them more educated and aware of the sexual health issues, increase knowledge about sero-status as well as other important social services . The vendors and services that will be present at the event reflect the needs of the community based on the Johns Hopkins Hospital & Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Community Health Needs Assessment 2018.

The Guided Path Foundation


The Guided Path Foundation will be hosting an Open House and Health Fair to commemorate National HIV Testing Day. The event will be held on June 27th, 2019 and will aim to spread awareness about the HIV epidemic and the services that Guided Path offers to community members. Local organizations have also been invited to table at the event and to connect community members with resources, and a few educational sessions will be offered to inform attendants about key issues in their neighboring communities.

Empowerment Resource Center Annual Health Fair

This community outreach campaign will provide free HIV counseling, testing, Linkage to care, referral services and other health-related programs to approximately 1,500 Atlantans. Empowerment Resource Center is prepared to test everyone who shows up and wants to be tested. This annual event is free and open to the public and will take place in Hurt Park which is easily accessible to public transportation.
